Our Process
We aren’t trying to be all things to all people.
Because we choose to remain a boutique pool builder and only accept 15-20 pool projects annually, your project gets the attention we feel it needs. Often, our time to delivery is shorter due to the fact we have a policy: every project every day.
Design Phase
Transforming your ideas into a stunning pool design can often be a challenging process, marked by back-and-forth between salespeople and designers. At Wasserloch Pool Studio, we take a different approach. You’ll meet directly with a designer who will listen to your vision and translate it into a working plan, usually within a week. If the initial design doesn’t fully capture your vision, a follow-up visit is included to refine and perfect the plan.
Estimating
Shortly after the design is completed, the estimation phase begins. This typically takes about a week to finalize. We provide a comprehensive, turnkey price from bare land to a ready-to-use pool, ensuring there are no surprises along the way.
Contract Acceptance
Once we agree on the scope of work and the final price, we detail our working relationship on paper for your protection. A clear and precise agreement is essential to the success of the project for both parties.
Permitting/HOA Approval
Obtaining city permits and HOA approvals generally takes about 30 days. We recommend initiating this process during the design phase to expedite the timeline and get your project moving as quickly as possible.
Layout
The final design is then transferred to paint on the ground, allowing everyone to visualize the exact location and proximity to structures, trees, and other features. This process typically takes two days and ensures everyone is aligned. Plan your work and work your plan.
Excavation
Using the agreed-upon layout, the excavation and haul-off begin. Unless otherwise agreed, the material removed to shape the pool is hauled away and disposed of. This phase usually takes about a week, depending on the amount of rock encountered in the pool area.
Plumbing Phase
Our team of experienced pool plumbers install the pipes to accommodate drains, return lines, and other necessary components. The installation is tested with water or compressed air to ensure there are no leaks. This phase typically takes about a week from start to finish.
Steel Installation Phase
Experienced steel tiers install the reinforcing material according to the engineer’s plan. The ASTM-certified rebar represents the tensile strength of the pool walls and floor. This phase typically lasts a week or less.
Gunite/Shotcrete Phase
After all inspections are completed, a team arrives with equipment to apply the gunite or shotcrete. While the application is completed in a day, the material needs to cure for a week or more, depending on weather conditions.
Tile and Coping Phase
This is the "chrome on the car" phase, bringing colors and patterns to life. Our skilled tile mechanics install the selected materials with precision and craftsmanship. Depending on the complexity of the design and layout, this phase can take up to two weeks.
Decking Phase
With our extensive experience in concrete construction, our team of concrete finishers provides a superior decking finish. Concrete placement generally takes one day and requires a week of curing time.
Pool Equipment Install Phase
During this phase, our installation team delivers and places the pool filter, pumps, and heater if needed, along with associated piping and valves. Our electrician connects the equipment to your house service, and a plumber hooks up and tests the gas supply if needed. City inspections are performed at this time. This process typically takes 2-3 days.
Pool Plaster Phase
A team of plaster applicators applies approximately ¼” of plaster to the entire pool surface. This seals all the pores within the gunite or shotcrete, allowing the pool to hold water. The process takes a day, and the pool is then immediately filled with water to allow a slow curing process to occur.
Startup Phase
During this phase, the pool equipment is started up to begin circulating water through the pool and plumbing. Beforehand, the entire pool area is thoroughly washed down. This process usually takes one day, barring any issues.
At this point, pool chemicals are added and balanced to ensure the water is clear and clean. We will instruct you on basic pool maintenance and the operation of all equipment.
Your Wasserloch Pool is now ready for you and your family to enjoy.
